SuperGirls Do Cry…

Supergirls do Cry but it is completely Okay. It took me a while to accept it and still I don’t cry so easily in front of people but I think is important to cry and let it all out, I prefer to specially do it when I am alone or standing in your shower- this is probably the best time to cry. Just letting all the problems, small issues, insecurities, uncertainties, and everything in between run down your face is LIBERATING.

Yes we are all Strong individuals but we are only Humans and sometimes we just need to let it out. You will feel better the next day and more ready to take on the world but there is no need to take on the world so just remember to BREATHE and CRY a little from time to whenever needed.

**Back from India! In Bratislava and soon heading home to Boston in just 3 days… But all that is for another post… Lots of crying lately hence why this song has been so touching to me since I first heard it. Hope you like it too and that you are having a good day without tears! 😉

Let It All Out, Let Yourself be Free

Let It All Out, Let Yourself be Free

2014! Definitely A Great Year!

2014 Best Moments2014 – A very exciting year for me as I opened myself to so many opportunities, the power of saying “Yes” is incredible.

But of course not all was rainbows, unicorns, and butterflies in 2014 but for the most part it turnout to be a GREAT year.

I started to plan more how I could quit my job and go on a “Self-Searching Adventure”. This adventure didn’t happened quite as I planned or expected it but still I am happy how it turned out!

May 9th was my last day at my job, it was a great feeling leaving this job, the job wasn’t even bad but I was just not thriving in it and was feeling like my life had little purpose with this job. I urge you to plan ways on how to change your current job if you feel like I felt, it is not a good feeling and I don’t wish it on anyone.

May 16th – One of my best friends Katinka came to visit me in Boston for 2 weeks! We had a very nice and relaxing time hanging out in Boston, Connecticut, and NYC! And it felt amazing to really feel Free and Alive in a very long time also to spend some quality time with my bestie!

May 30th – I headed to Dominican Republic! Right after Katinka left I started to feel a extreme urge to visit my roots and to see my grandparents so I went very crazy and booked a flight right on the spot! My God I can not express how thankful and grateful I feel to have gone back to DR. I didn’t know how much I needed to go back to my country but I was overwhelm with happiness just been back and seeing my people, seriously there were times I felt like crying of pure happiness, it was that magical.

June 8th – I return to Boston, it was a very short trip and wish I planned to stay longer in DR but I was waiting on news of another opportunity and didn’t know if I could stay too long.

After coming back I realized how fast money was running out and even though I still had some left I still was not working and when you are not working managing your money for traveling and fun is not the easiest so I had to take a reality check and decided to babysit for a few weeks while I waited for my next opportunity.  This 3 weeks taught me a lot and I think in a way they even prepared for what came later on.

July 18th – I went to NYC once again but this time it was not about a vacation, it was to take the time to spend sometime with my Aunt Ramo who is like a second Mother to me. I realize how crazy it is that we don’t take time to spend with our love ones on a regular bases that it takes feeling free of everything to finally take the time to look around and say “Wow, why had I not contacted that someone I love so dearly sooner?”, I think it has to do with being stressed, overworked, and not filling fulfill in life. I had days were all I wanted to do was return home eat something fast and just sleep or watch a tv show until I did the same thing allover the next day, definitely not the best way to live your life as life is meant to be lived!

July 23rd I returned back home and this time I booked my ticket for my opportunity to move and work in Europe, Slovakia to be exact! You can read about that here

July 31st – I got on a plane to my new life. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I’m living right now to work and live in a different country. To finally feel more alive and with more purpose at work but most of all to finally feel like I am really learning to work to live and not live to work

But I do have to say the even though I am working more to live I still quite like my job, now I work as a teacher in a Kindergarten and I really have come to love my children, to thrive in making new activities for my classes, and just overall been surrounded by nice and like minded people. Of course though that work will always be work and I too have my days were I wake up and simply wish I could spend my time another way but working is part of life. Not sure if there is a job where I will feel 110 percent happy all the time but if there is such job I’m looking forward to it! For now, I’m right where I need to be.

In 2014 I also got to see other magical places such as:

  • Liptov and Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia
  • Budapest, Hungary
  • Vienna, Austria
  • Brussels, Belgium
  • The Hague & Amsterdam, Holland
  • Bled, Slovenia

And lastly celebrated the end of 2014 – New Years Eve watching the Fireworks by the Danube in Bratislava.

This year I also met someone, someone who maybe one day I will write about here on the blog but for now is just someone who in Frida Kahlo’s words looks at me like I may be magic! 😉

This is also the year the I have traveled the most, I was in 8 countries this year! And I am more than grateful for all the travel opportunities and can’t not wait to see where I will go in 2015!

Somehow it felt like most the things that happened to me in 2014 were already planned out for me… as Paulo Coelho would say “It’s written.”

Now of course some of my favorite pictures of 2014!

I Lived…

Processed with Moldiv

I just finished balling my eyes out to this amazing video and song… This has been the song of the year for me, I am completely in love with this song actually I have been in love with this song for a long long time now but tonight I watched the video for the first time and just before I watched it I said to myself “Video, please don’t disappoint me.” I said this because I absolutely LOVE when videos actually happen to match or go with the lyrics of the song. Call me OCD but seriously is such a shame to hear a wonderful song and then go watch the video and think WTF did I just watch. A song is already such an emotional thing therefore for me the visual part is significantly as important as the song. But I have to say this video did not disappoint me at all, in fact I love it! Loved it so much I even cried, I cried because seriously me and so many others complain daily for such little ridiculous things but here is someone who really has suffer and is still embracing every minute of his life, that’s inspirational.

I won’t stop complaining just from simply watching this video, complaining is a part of being human but watching something like this just reminds me of how blessed I am, and how much I often take for granted. This year has been super interesting and full of emotions for me maybe this is why this song touches me so much but I just wanted to share with anyone who may be having a bad day or simply just because is a magnificent song and everyone ought to hear it at least once. Thank you Universe for all that I have, all that I have lived, I wouldn’t change anything in my life. Life is beautiful even with is obstacles, as I like to say “Life is not about a Perfect Ending but Perfect Moments that make life worth it.”

.

A comment I liked from a Youtuber under this video:

Screen Shot 2014-12-01 at 8.24.13 PMThank you One Republic for creating an spectacular song that really touched me even before watching the video which is just as amazing!

Hope you enjoy it as much as me and that at the end of your life you can say “I LIVED!”

Na Zdravie to New Beginnings!

Drum Roll please!!!! ta ta ta taddadat t ta ta a da tt taaa… I have left the States and I am currently living in Europe, Slovakia to be exact!!!

It has been 31 days since my best friend Loh and I arrived in what is to be our new home for 1 year or perhaps 2! This is the BIG Change I hinted on a previous post, since April of this year Loh told me about the opportunity to work in Slovakia teaching in a private Kindergarten and I figured why not let’s apply! But I have to say the Life is quite funny because I was planning to quit my job and travel to Norway to “find myself” very cliche of me but I felt lost/numb/and lifeless ever since graduating college and Norway seem so breathtakingly beautiful plus I felt in love with the images of this magic new land and even with the language, I was so seriously set on going there that I was learning Norwegian on my own and funny enough I found a man who offer to teach me, such a strange sign that Norway was where I was meant to go. But instead of Norway I ended up in Slovakia, a country that I knew was in Europe but seriously that’s all I knew about it and a country I had never dreamed of visiting. It is quite interesting and peculiar the way life works, I really do believe the some things or maybe everything is already written for us but sometimes we alter what is written if we don’t follow the signs. I really thought all signs were leading me to Norway but I have no idea why end up in Nitra, Slovakia though I do feel very strong about the fact that I am exactly were I am meant to be right now in my life and perhaps one day I will reach Norway but for now I am exactly where I need to be. I am living “my own personal legend” as Paulo Coelho would say in “The Alchemist.”

BTW I recently read “The Alchemist for the first time and I am angry I did not read it earlier on in life but again maybe now is when I needed it most so perhaps it is the perfect timing for me to have read it, and I strongly recommend you to read it if you haven’t already because it is magnificent!

Back to Slovakia and our work… Well so far the program hasn’t been fully organized but I figured this would happen as Europeans just seem more relax about everything and even though I don’t love uncertainty it is refreshing to be in a country where people work to live rather than live to work, that is my favorite thing about all the European countries I have visited that I have noticed.

As for me so far I am beyond happy with my decision to come here even though I have had my little struggles here and there, and I miss my family like crazy I just feel way way happier about my life right at this moment. In USA after graduating college I was feeling quite numbed and now I feel alive again, I feel like blood actually runs through my veins and that is what life is about for me. To feel alive at all times because it is not enough to breathe everyday you got to feel it in your veins.

But enough with the lecture, I will talk through pictures now as I have tons LITERALLY tons!

Quotes from Roberto Shinyashiki.

*I like to take little walks during my lunch break and today I made it my mission to cheer me up by capturing some pictures of nature specially as just last week all trees were completely bare, now look at the magic that has bloomed! Great way to recharge the batteries is to take a little walk whenever possible, it does wonders for the mind.

We Often Seek Dreams that Don’t Belong to Us…

Photo(6)“This is the Answer  to a Question that was asked to the psychiatrist Roberto Shinyashiki in an interview for the magazine “Istoe
Camilo Vannuchi The interviewer asked him:
Many people have tried to seek dreams that are not theirs?
Shinyashiki replies:
– Society wants to define what is right . There are four Crazy ideas in our Society .
The first is:
Establish that everyone has to succeed, as if he/she had not individual meanings.
The second is crazy:
You have to be happy every day.
The third is :
You have to buy all you can. The result is this absurd consumerism.
Finally , the fourth madness:
You have to do things the right way. There is no right way. There is no single way to do things.
Goals are interesting/important for success, but not for happiness.
Happiness is not a goal, but a state of mind. Some people say they will not be happy until they get married, while others say they are unhappy precisely because of marriage.
You can be happy eating ice cream , staying at home with family or true friends, taking your children to play or going to the beach or the movies.
When I was newly graduated in São Paulo, working in a hospital for terminally ill patients.
All dying, around nine or ten patients will die everyday. I always tried to talk to them. Most of them will grab the doctor by the shirt and say:
“Doctor,  don’t let me die. I sacrificed my whole life, now I want to enjoy it and be happy.”
I felt a huge pain for doing nothing. There I learned that happiness is made of small things.
Nobody at death says how they regret not having used their money in real estate or stocks but what they do regret is to have waited too long or missed on several opportunities to enjoy life.
‘Having problems in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.’

My best friend sent me this interview in Portuguese and I was so happy because I was able to understand everything and I think this article should be read by everyone and then perhaps a few of us will understand and see that money does not equal happiness, yes money helps. But way too often we forget that money is material, it banishes, heck money even catches on fire, we spend so much time preoccupied in how much money we need for this and that, that we forget what truly is the meaning of happiness, happiness will never be measured in money if that were the case why do so many people who seem to have it all commit suicide? I hope that who ever reads this is inspired to live the life they wish to live without the restrictions that we see way to often in our society. To appreciate the little things, to stop focusing so much on money, spend more time focusing on enjoying the ones we love and doing the things that make us happy because in the end that’s what really matters or at least that is what those facing death seem to want to tell us.

Life can be just like Riding a Bike

“The only truth there may be certainty in is that life is always going to be like riding bike. At first we are full of fear, doubts, and excitement but once the feet touch the pedal the going gets going & all we do is push forward. Yes we may fail or forget to pedal sometimes but is nothing more than getting back on that bike and doing just what we have always been doing pushing forward.” #sopedalmyfriend

The Thing About New Year’s Resolutions…

List to Do for ‘13!

“The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.” – Charles Bukowski …  LET’S CHANGE THIS! – Me
  1. Be HappyDon’t forget the Contract!
  2. 1 Trip Abroad
  3. Go See Grandparents -DR
  4. See another State
  5. Do Yoga 5 times a week
  6. Save money – NO impulse shopping
  7. Read 15 Books – pending LC, FS/3, HG/3, TWOWS, & Stoker’s Dracula.
  8. Take GRE
  9. Write & Paint more often
  10. Learn Photography
  11. Bedroom Renovation
  12. DON’T Forget ALL you have accomplished at such a young age!
  13. Less time Apologizing & More time Doing Right.
  14. Dear Dani, Please Finish what You Start!

Pursue a job that’s in keeping with your love of ART, MUSIC, & BEAUTY.

The thing about New Year’s Resolutions is that we often expect too much therefore when we don’t accomplish all these “resolutions” we feel completely unaccomplished.  But I think it is still important to write them down so we can come back to it by the end of the year and see what we have accomplished. BUT one thing I think is pointless is telling the whole world your “New Year’s Resolutions” because it won’t help you in my opinion if you truly want to accomplish something the cheers from those around you will help but at the end of the day is really up to you to move forward with your wishes and desires.

Here are all the details on how my whole List went down…

I made this list at the beginning of 2013 because I wanted a few things to change in my life, if I was going to be happy I needed to make these changes to my life. So far I have to say I have not accomplished all that it is on the “To Do List” but I am pretty happy with what I have done so far. 1 – Being happy, I have definitely being a lot more happy this year, I feel like I have a better sense of what I want and I am trying my best to cope with life as a real working adult. The part about the contract is a contract I made with my cousin & roommate about being happy. 2 – Sadly I have not taken any trips abroad but I did go to NYC & Florida. 3 – Sadly I didn’t accomplish this one. 4 – I have not seen a new State but I did see Roosevelt Island, an island I had never heard of that lies between Manhattan and the borough of Queens. 5 – Okay, I have not become a professional Yoggi but I have definitely done more Yoga than ever this year, I signed up for a entire month of Bikram and loved it, have not gone to many more classes after that month because yoga is pricey but I use YouTube videos at home to keep doing Yoga at least once per week! 6 – I have finally learn to save money! I have used a lot of what I have saved but I have actually saved money and not touched it for months which is incredible considering I am the worse at saving money because I always want to live in the “now” and NOT later, soon I will write a post on my saving technique! 7 – Reading 15 books – this one I have failed at miserably, I have barely read 6 books so far, I have read a lot of blogs and articles but 15 full books no. 8 – The dreadful GRE uggghhh I do not want to take that damn test, I HATE long test, and still have not taken it. 9 – I have definitely being writing a lot more specially now that I started the blog btw my apologies for the LONG post. As for painting I signed up for a painting class and it was AMAZING, it was super chill but it taught me and help me so much, I have taken it twice already that’s how much I love it! 10 – I decided to use some of my taxes and invest in a DSLR Camera, I completely LOVE how awesome and clear the pictures are BUT I have to admit that I take pretty good pictures simply with my iPhone 4S, and I am really starting to believe that the quality of the pictures is more on how good the person is at capturing a moment/lighting than the actual quality of the camera itself. ALSO learning photography is something that is ongoing and you know what they say “Practice makes perfect!”  11 – A Full Bedroom Renovation has not happened but a few new improvements have being made. 12 – I am constantly reminding myself all that I have accomplished at such a young age and I even wrote it all down once, is important to remind ourselves of our worth. 13 – The apologizing part comes because of the word “Sorry” which is truly a hated word of mine because I feel that in the States we use it so much that the word has actually started to loose is meaning for me, so now I only try to use it when I truly mean it. 14 – This last one makes me laugh because seriously I am so great at starting anything but sometimes I started to self doubt myself and loose interest in finishing what I’ve started though little by little I try to push myself a little harder every time and that is what life is “trying” we are constantly trying to better ourselves, to survive, to enjoy, & to be happy as much as we can because we are only certain of YOLO.(Shameful but I totally needed to use YOLO here)

Does anyone out there makes these a “To Do List” or “New Year’s Resolutions”?

Fun Facts – Random Things

I always love when bloggers post fun facts/random things about them because I always get that feeling that now I know them a bit better. So I thought to do that same!

Here it goes!

  1. I hate going to sleep or leaving the house without making sure my closet door is locked and makes “the locked sound”.
  2. I put ketchup in almost everything I eat, once even on macaroni & cheese, gross I know but Ketchup is LIFE! So I will excuse myself on that one.
  3. I have live 11 years in the Caribbean & 11 years in the USA – in 2014 it will break that even numbers if I stay in the USA.
  4. I am pretty creative in the kitchen! I am one of those people that can open an empty fridge and I will still come up with something- one talent I am very proud of, super modest here haha
  5. One drunken night on my college campus I lost my iPod making snow angels, a few months later when all the snow melted a guy found my iPod and return it to me! After that I wholeheartedly believe that good old people still exist! Thank you Matt!
  6. I was lucky enough to go to Vegas for my 21st & because I was flying on my birthday they gave my best friend and me first class seats! Thank you ATL ladies!
  7. When I truly like a show I often like to just watch it by myself as I really dislike interruptions, I get extremely focus to that point my house could burn down and I won’t notice until the fire is right on my face.
  8. I love searching for other people’s culture and traditions… sometimes I even like to bring those traditions into my life – for example when I went to Germany I learned how to make mulled wine or Glühwein now I like making it on my own!
  9. I am pretty sure one of my boobs is bigger than the other.
  10. Once I had to rap in church camp to “Candy Shop by 50 Cent” but with churchy-worthy lyrics- it was pretty hilarious.
  11. And to finish off with an odd number… When I chop tomatoes it makes my hands itch like crazy but I can eat tomatoes & nothing bad happens, weird…

I couldn’t end this post without posting my 3 favorite songs of the moment!

Indoor Piquenique … Indoor Picnic…

Indoor Picnic!

Indoor Picnic!

Oh my little baby Blog is been a while… Life happens… so here we go…

Let’s talk about “Indoor Picnic!”… As much as I love “Parklife” sometimes that weather is just not suitable for the occasion. But are we gonna let that stop us? Are we? Nooooo!!! Haha I am crazy but hey the crazies have more fun so is okay! When the weather doesn’t cooperate with our plans we bring the picnic indoors! If you have the space I say go all out and put a blanket on the floor, I live in a small place so the floor is not much of an option but I still managed, so I set the picnic in a small table. We laughed, we ate, we drank, and we simply had a good time regardless of the snow and cold weather outside. Sometimes we can’t just let life get away with things we have no control of, unless we are biffles with ‘Mother-Nature’ but we can certainly outsmart it and try our own new ways, sometimes it will work other times it won’t but at least we try!

Little fun fact – the super yellow cheese on the pic is from my lovely island Dominican Republic and is one of my favorite cheeses, is called Queso Geo! Queso means Cheese!
