Stoicism

Screen Shot 2016-07-05 at 10.28.49 PM

I am currently listening to the book Stoicism by Tom Miles, I have to say that I am quite impressed so far and haven’t even finished the the book so I wanted to share a few lines that I really enjoy from the book. Also to encourage anyone reading this to try to get into books wether is reading or listening to them, it is so beneficial to space the mind, put things in perspective, and even learn new things from time to time. I know reading is not for everyone, I personally love both reading and listening to books but I am also very flexible and don’t try to finish everything I start just because I already have it which is probably why I do enjoy reading. Sometimes I prefer to nibble around different books specially when I can’t seem to bring myself to finish one I’ve already started because I have lost interest or just not in the mood for it. So don’t feel like you always have to finish every book you start sometimes is just good to pick this and that from various book, the point in my opinion is to read for the sake of reading and gaining knowledge that may be helpful for us in everyday life, to enlighten or brighten our mood! Getting lost in a book is a magical magical thing! Give it a try! 😉

The images are from Tom Miles book Stoicism, Chapter 3 – the highlighted parts are the ones that resonated most with me and I felt the need to share them! I have the book both on Audible and Kindle. Books are something I never regret spending money on.

Going Abroad…

So my questions for you are, where have you been/what program you’re doing? How has it impacted your life? Do you think you would have been the person you are now if you stayed here?

First thank you Erika for asking me these questions, I needed to make a post about this topic and never get around to doing it, so now I have a reason to do it!

So since I quit my job in May 2014, I went to Connecticut, NYC, Dominican Republic, back to NYC, and then after that I moved to Slovakia to work as an English teacher in a private kindergarten. I didn’t go through a program, a friend of my friend was already working in one of the kindergartens over there and suggested my friend to apply so she told me and we both applied, it took a couple of months for everything to work out due to waiting for paperwork and all that stuff but I quit my job even before I knew I would go to Slovakia because I really just wanted to take some time to travel and “to find myself”. So I got the job to go work in Slovakia in July and moved there July 31st.  Once there my travel adventures just seem to happen almost without even planning them so much. I went to Budapest-Hungary 2 times, Vienna in Austria 2 times, Brussels in Belgium, The Hague+Amsterdam in Holland, a few cities in Slovakia, Bled in Slovenia, Prague in Czech Republic 2 times, Paris in France, Oslo + Bergen in Norway, Mannheim in Germany, and lastly the amazing trip to India which still seems unreal.

You may be wondering how I managed to afford that, it was a lot of saving and managing my money way better than I have ever done before, using my credit card, and my tax money from working in USA in 2014. A lot of the vacations were short or I took them on long weekends and Europeans just give you way more days off for vacation, they don’t take holidays for granted. India was the longest I spend 2 weeks there. So most of the trip planning I did it on my own or with friends, didn’t use any programs, stay for free in Paris, Bergen, Germany and Budapest using CouchSurfing, friends, and also used Airbnb for cheaper accommodations, stay in Hostels, and literally once you start to get the idea in your head things really just sort of flow and happen almost like magic as crazy as that may sound.

It has impacted me so much, I am definitely a lot different then before, I care more about the world in general, I believe in myself and others way more than before, I am a hundred times better at managing my money, I am more confident in myself and in my decisions, I trust my gut a lot more, I value things a lot more, I am more willing to take risk, to take opportunities when they arrive at my door steps, I drink less which sounds funny but seriously before I left my idea of a “good time” consisted in drinking every weekend, now I much rather enjoy having meaningful conversations and I like that I don’t feel that need to get super tipsy to “enjoy” my night, I am more humble, more empathetic, and overall I have to say I love myself a whole lot more today.

Of course not everything was rainbows, unicorns, and butterflies but serious the hard times I went through were all worth it, and that’s all just part of life.

If you are thinking of taking some time off to travel, to work abroad or volunteer abroad DO IT. DO IT. DO IT! Even small trips change you if you are opened, fully embracing the places you are going and open to the people you meet along the way. BIGGEST advice is to SAVE SAVE SAVE, save as much money as you can before you take off because is nice to have some money to depend on and it will just give you a peace of mind and more freedom while you are out there. While I was living abroad I realized how much money I threw away on unnecessary things when I was living in the States, I won’t let myself do that again.

Never in a millions years would I be the person I am right now if I didn’t take the chance of moving to another country, of opening myself to people, new culture, and everything in between. If I could do it all again I would in a heartbeat!

Song: Years Around the Sun – Miles Away

SuperGirls Do Cry…

Supergirls do Cry but it is completely Okay. It took me a while to accept it and still I don’t cry so easily in front of people but I think is important to cry and let it all out, I prefer to specially do it when I am alone or standing in your shower- this is probably the best time to cry. Just letting all the problems, small issues, insecurities, uncertainties, and everything in between run down your face is LIBERATING.

Yes we are all Strong individuals but we are only Humans and sometimes we just need to let it out. You will feel better the next day and more ready to take on the world but there is no need to take on the world so just remember to BREATHE and CRY a little from time to whenever needed.

**Back from India! In Bratislava and soon heading home to Boston in just 3 days… But all that is for another post… Lots of crying lately hence why this song has been so touching to me since I first heard it. Hope you like it too and that you are having a good day without tears! 😉

Let It All Out, Let Yourself be Free

Let It All Out, Let Yourself be Free

My Heart Aches…

My Heart Aches but no is not for a boy or a bad break up, my heart aches for traveling… Traveling brings me such happiness… I have been bitten by a “travel bug” and ever since that bite all I wish for is for more and more traveling. I find myself always trying to plan my next trip, I can’t help it and lately I feel that ache more and more. But I am happy that next week I should be on a plane to NORWAY!!!! Is been my dream to go there for over 3 years now so to finally be so close to reaching such a dream is pretty epic!

But any trip it doesn’t matter how small/long it is or how insignificant it may seem is a great and completely matters. I have this theory that simply by being somewhere else our minds spend so much and maybe we won’t be able to realize right in that moment what the trip is doing for us but later on it comes to you and is just like “Wow” almost like a flashbulb just sparked inside your head and all of the sudden you know how important and special that small little trip truly was.
So when you get the chance to travel take it, do it, own it! Bills come and go Life doesn’t. Don’t neglect your responsibilities but just try to always save a bit to take the time to travel, you will be amazing all you will grow with every place and every amazing person you meet! Also is good to not just travel for the five star resort and the 100% catered experience while those trips are nice they won’t get you to really feel the vibe of a country and to really experience the “Wow” factor I mention above.

A proper song for this post: Years Around the SunMiles Away

Getting my inspiration back…

Don't Let GoHave you ever felt like life, inspiration, and so much more has literally being sucked out of you? Well that’s how I felt at one point in my life, I felt as if all that I had always love had being sucked out of me little by little. I decided to take some action into my own hands which as not as easy as is songs aloud. But I braced myself with some good old courage and signed myself up for an Art Class. It was by far one of the best decisions I have ever made. Even though I felt tired at times having to get from work and right after heading to my 3 hour art class but usually I completely forgot about my exhausted day once I was there, I LOVE this class.

I also felt completely intimidated to meet all my classmates and just to get out of my very comfortable and lazy zone but after it I learn how extremely important it is to go out of our comfort zones. My classmates turned out to be super nice, helpful, and truly taught me a thing or two about life and myself. I have this theory that meeting someone new always helps me learn a little more about myself, this was the case with my classmates – the more I learned about them the more I learned about myself. This class gave me back my inspiration, I felt myself getting back the life and light that had being sucked out of me and it was a glorious feeling. If you ever find yourself in such situation try to do something that you love even if you don’t feel like it will workout and assure you that at the very least you will learn a thing or two. My advise is to just try, try to find what it is that you can do to get back what’s yours, don’t let go of your inspiration and dreams even if you or others think these are silly dreams!

Some of the pieces I created in class or during the time I was taking the class:

IMG_4803IMG_4129 IMG_4219 IMG_4098 IMG_4139 IMG_4136 IMG_4534 IMG_4094 IMG_4121We were even having lovely snacks and wine in some of the classes as it was a class for adults and usually we had some lovely music in the background, and one time Ron, our Professor brought his friend to play Spanish guitar for us!

IMG_5408Thank you Universe for putting this class in my path right when I needed it most! 🙂

Sam Garret – Don’t Let Go

2014! Definitely A Great Year!

2014 Best Moments2014 – A very exciting year for me as I opened myself to so many opportunities, the power of saying “Yes” is incredible.

But of course not all was rainbows, unicorns, and butterflies in 2014 but for the most part it turnout to be a GREAT year.

I started to plan more how I could quit my job and go on a “Self-Searching Adventure”. This adventure didn’t happened quite as I planned or expected it but still I am happy how it turned out!

May 9th was my last day at my job, it was a great feeling leaving this job, the job wasn’t even bad but I was just not thriving in it and was feeling like my life had little purpose with this job. I urge you to plan ways on how to change your current job if you feel like I felt, it is not a good feeling and I don’t wish it on anyone.

May 16th – One of my best friends Katinka came to visit me in Boston for 2 weeks! We had a very nice and relaxing time hanging out in Boston, Connecticut, and NYC! And it felt amazing to really feel Free and Alive in a very long time also to spend some quality time with my bestie!

May 30th – I headed to Dominican Republic! Right after Katinka left I started to feel a extreme urge to visit my roots and to see my grandparents so I went very crazy and booked a flight right on the spot! My God I can not express how thankful and grateful I feel to have gone back to DR. I didn’t know how much I needed to go back to my country but I was overwhelm with happiness just been back and seeing my people, seriously there were times I felt like crying of pure happiness, it was that magical.

June 8th – I return to Boston, it was a very short trip and wish I planned to stay longer in DR but I was waiting on news of another opportunity and didn’t know if I could stay too long.

After coming back I realized how fast money was running out and even though I still had some left I still was not working and when you are not working managing your money for traveling and fun is not the easiest so I had to take a reality check and decided to babysit for a few weeks while I waited for my next opportunity.  This 3 weeks taught me a lot and I think in a way they even prepared for what came later on.

July 18th – I went to NYC once again but this time it was not about a vacation, it was to take the time to spend sometime with my Aunt Ramo who is like a second Mother to me. I realize how crazy it is that we don’t take time to spend with our love ones on a regular bases that it takes feeling free of everything to finally take the time to look around and say “Wow, why had I not contacted that someone I love so dearly sooner?”, I think it has to do with being stressed, overworked, and not filling fulfill in life. I had days were all I wanted to do was return home eat something fast and just sleep or watch a tv show until I did the same thing allover the next day, definitely not the best way to live your life as life is meant to be lived!

July 23rd I returned back home and this time I booked my ticket for my opportunity to move and work in Europe, Slovakia to be exact! You can read about that here

July 31st – I got on a plane to my new life. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I’m living right now to work and live in a different country. To finally feel more alive and with more purpose at work but most of all to finally feel like I am really learning to work to live and not live to work

But I do have to say the even though I am working more to live I still quite like my job, now I work as a teacher in a Kindergarten and I really have come to love my children, to thrive in making new activities for my classes, and just overall been surrounded by nice and like minded people. Of course though that work will always be work and I too have my days were I wake up and simply wish I could spend my time another way but working is part of life. Not sure if there is a job where I will feel 110 percent happy all the time but if there is such job I’m looking forward to it! For now, I’m right where I need to be.

In 2014 I also got to see other magical places such as:

  • Liptov and Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia
  • Budapest, Hungary
  • Vienna, Austria
  • Brussels, Belgium
  • The Hague & Amsterdam, Holland
  • Bled, Slovenia

And lastly celebrated the end of 2014 – New Years Eve watching the Fireworks by the Danube in Bratislava.

This year I also met someone, someone who maybe one day I will write about here on the blog but for now is just someone who in Frida Kahlo’s words looks at me like I may be magic! 😉

This is also the year the I have traveled the most, I was in 8 countries this year! And I am more than grateful for all the travel opportunities and can’t not wait to see where I will go in 2015!

Somehow it felt like most the things that happened to me in 2014 were already planned out for me… as Paulo Coelho would say “It’s written.”

Now of course some of my favorite pictures of 2014!

My True Blood … ABC Drink

Image

Screen Shot 2015-03-22 at 9.35.20 PMMy TrueBlood… ABC smoothie a Great Little Detoxifier!

1 Apple
1 Beet
1 Carrot
If you Wish add Lemon, Blend… At last Drink Up & Enjoy!

Let’s get a bit personal… about 1 year ago I was having very bad problems in regards to my period. I simply was not getting my period, around the same time I was also having a lot of back pain and funny enough due to the back pain is how I stumbled upon this little magical juice!

A holistic/masseuse and simply amazing woman who I visit for a massage told me to try “ABC juice” because she was not only giving me a massage but she was also genuinely interested in learning about my health and she suggest this juice.

I kid you not, after FOUR straight months of NOT getting my period and before that getting my period very irregularly I got my period that same week of making this juice. After that miracle I wholeheartedly believe in the magic of this juice and still make it every now and then.

These are some of the benefits she told me about the ABC Juice:

  • Helps with Period
  • Helps to better Skin quality and Acne Problems
  • Helps your digestive system
  • Cleanses you liver, pancreas, and kidney
  • Cleanses your body of toxins
  • Can seriously help you after a Hangover* 😉

*If you are wondering about the taste I seriously don’t mind it, specially if you put extra pieces of apple but is not necessary and is my period regular now, YES! 🙂

Polévka z červené řepy = Beetroot Soup!

The first soup I tried in Slovakia was Beetroot soup! It was super delicious and quite interesting as it was my first time trying it and I had never even heard of Beetroot Soup. Beetroot is said to have tons of benefits therefore this soup plus the juice will probably do magic to the human body!

If you try these please let me know in the comments! I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

Lastly, songs of the moment, the videos are pretty cool, interesting and Wow the “Take Me to Church” Video is just WOW incredible and sad, and mesmerizing all at once. After such video I can help to Wish that one day we will be able to accept everyone for what they are just simply human beings without all the stupid labels that are so unnecessary and only bring hatred to this world.

Spice Up Your Black Skinny Jeans or Plain Tops!

tumblr_mlzv0gGGuA1sp26bho1_1280A little while ago my cousin asked me what she could wear to look thinner… There are some tricks to looking trimmer but at the end of the day I think is how you wear it not what you wear… I say this because I can see the prettiest girl with the best outfit yet if her persona or aura seems condescending it completely ruins her look for me. But if you are dress nice and have a beautiful smile that really charms me or wearing rags as long as your aura is radiant you will shine! There is something about a genuine smile that is just priceless no matter what you are wearing, if you have a smile on your face I guarantee that you are bound to charm others.

But a trick or two that I think will help is wearing black or more neutral colors and very little patterns, and less funky clothing. Though don’t forget to have fun, it is your life after all so be happy and comfortable with what you choose to wear. Adding more extravagant accessory is always best and will still give you the super cool edge on your outfit. For example I prefer to wear a shoe or bag or even scarf the will be more out there and just keep my clothes on the simple side.

Here is an example of how I would spice up a simple black or white T-shirt:

FullSizeRenderThese are just some simple ideas to have fun with and get inspiration from, hope you enjoy them! 🙂

I Lived…

Processed with Moldiv

I just finished balling my eyes out to this amazing video and song… This has been the song of the year for me, I am completely in love with this song actually I have been in love with this song for a long long time now but tonight I watched the video for the first time and just before I watched it I said to myself “Video, please don’t disappoint me.” I said this because I absolutely LOVE when videos actually happen to match or go with the lyrics of the song. Call me OCD but seriously is such a shame to hear a wonderful song and then go watch the video and think WTF did I just watch. A song is already such an emotional thing therefore for me the visual part is significantly as important as the song. But I have to say this video did not disappoint me at all, in fact I love it! Loved it so much I even cried, I cried because seriously me and so many others complain daily for such little ridiculous things but here is someone who really has suffer and is still embracing every minute of his life, that’s inspirational.

I won’t stop complaining just from simply watching this video, complaining is a part of being human but watching something like this just reminds me of how blessed I am, and how much I often take for granted. This year has been super interesting and full of emotions for me maybe this is why this song touches me so much but I just wanted to share with anyone who may be having a bad day or simply just because is a magnificent song and everyone ought to hear it at least once. Thank you Universe for all that I have, all that I have lived, I wouldn’t change anything in my life. Life is beautiful even with is obstacles, as I like to say “Life is not about a Perfect Ending but Perfect Moments that make life worth it.”

.

A comment I liked from a Youtuber under this video:

Screen Shot 2014-12-01 at 8.24.13 PMThank you One Republic for creating an spectacular song that really touched me even before watching the video which is just as amazing!

Hope you enjoy it as much as me and that at the end of your life you can say “I LIVED!”

Na Zdravie to New Beginnings!

Drum Roll please!!!! ta ta ta taddadat t ta ta a da tt taaa… I have left the States and I am currently living in Europe, Slovakia to be exact!!!

It has been 31 days since my best friend Loh and I arrived in what is to be our new home for 1 year or perhaps 2! This is the BIG Change I hinted on a previous post, since April of this year Loh told me about the opportunity to work in Slovakia teaching in a private Kindergarten and I figured why not let’s apply! But I have to say the Life is quite funny because I was planning to quit my job and travel to Norway to “find myself” very cliche of me but I felt lost/numb/and lifeless ever since graduating college and Norway seem so breathtakingly beautiful plus I felt in love with the images of this magic new land and even with the language, I was so seriously set on going there that I was learning Norwegian on my own and funny enough I found a man who offer to teach me, such a strange sign that Norway was where I was meant to go. But instead of Norway I ended up in Slovakia, a country that I knew was in Europe but seriously that’s all I knew about it and a country I had never dreamed of visiting. It is quite interesting and peculiar the way life works, I really do believe the some things or maybe everything is already written for us but sometimes we alter what is written if we don’t follow the signs. I really thought all signs were leading me to Norway but I have no idea why end up in Nitra, Slovakia though I do feel very strong about the fact that I am exactly were I am meant to be right now in my life and perhaps one day I will reach Norway but for now I am exactly where I need to be. I am living “my own personal legend” as Paulo Coelho would say in “The Alchemist.”

BTW I recently read “The Alchemist for the first time and I am angry I did not read it earlier on in life but again maybe now is when I needed it most so perhaps it is the perfect timing for me to have read it, and I strongly recommend you to read it if you haven’t already because it is magnificent!

Back to Slovakia and our work… Well so far the program hasn’t been fully organized but I figured this would happen as Europeans just seem more relax about everything and even though I don’t love uncertainty it is refreshing to be in a country where people work to live rather than live to work, that is my favorite thing about all the European countries I have visited that I have noticed.

As for me so far I am beyond happy with my decision to come here even though I have had my little struggles here and there, and I miss my family like crazy I just feel way way happier about my life right at this moment. In USA after graduating college I was feeling quite numbed and now I feel alive again, I feel like blood actually runs through my veins and that is what life is about for me. To feel alive at all times because it is not enough to breathe everyday you got to feel it in your veins.

But enough with the lecture, I will talk through pictures now as I have tons LITERALLY tons!
